Altus Power to deliver largest community-based renewable-energy project in Hawaii

by Kali Persall

Altus Power America Inc. is planning to construct what will be the largest community-based renewable energy project in Hawaii.

Located on Kapolei, Hawaii, on the island of O’ahu, the 4.5-megawatt ground-mounted solar-energy project will generate more than 6,500 megawatt-hours of electricity during its first year of operation.

Altus Power acquired the project from Tritium Enterprises, which will continue to support construction, community engagement and ongoing operations. It is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2021.

This project will be Altus Power’s third investment in Hawaii and is expected to expand the company’s U.S. presence in community solar, with more than 100 megawatts of operating community solar projects across the country.
