AlphaReal adds its largest ground-mounted solar site to renewables portfolio

AlphaReal, a specialist real assets investment manager focused on secure income strategies, has acquired Bubney Energy Centre, a 40.36-megawatt newly commissioned solar site in Shropshire, England, from a global renewables developer.

Situated on more than 150 acres, Bubney Energy Centre represents the largest ground-mounted solar site in AlphaReal’s £1 billion ($1.3 billion) renewables portfolio.

The acquisition necessitated consultation regarding the site’s engineering, procurement and construction, operations and maintenance, and asset management contracts, utilizing AlphaReal’s expertise in both brownfield and greenfield transactions.

Raza Ali, investment director, renewable infrastructure at AlphaReal, said the deal was an interesting one to negotiate due to the site’s combined aspects of both greenfield and brownfield, but the company has accumulated sizable experience in both areas for more than a decade.
