Allianz GI secures €550m for second infrastructure equity fund

by Kali Persall

Allianz Global Investors has secured €550 million ($572 million) in a first closing of its second infrastructure equity fund, Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund II, according to Citywire Selector.

The fund, which opened to investors in late 2021, will focus on the energy, communication and transportation sectors. The strategy will make equity investments in a global portfolio of core, core-plus and value-add infrastructure through funds, secondary deals and co-investments. It will be classified as an Article 8 fund under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure regulation.

“Our investment approach focuses on key investment themes, such as the digital transformation, the energy transition, sustainable mobility and the circular economy,” said Yves Meyer-Bülow, head of infrastructure funds and co-investments at Allianz Capital Partners.

The fund’s predecessor raised €1 billion ($1 billion) in 2020.
