AkademikerPension and AIP invest in Texas wind farm

by Kali Persall

Danish pension fund AkademikerPension and AIP, a climate and infrastructure fund owned by PKA, PenSam and Norwegian Storebrand, have invested DKK 560 million ($78 million) in a wind farm in Texas.

AIP has a 35 percent ownership stake in the 336-megawatt Escalade wind farm project, which was inaugurated in October. The investment gives AkademikerPension a 2.8 percent ownership share of the wind farm.

“This investment is exactly what we wanted. Climate-friendly, an expected good return and made together with good and skilled partners,” said Jens Munch Holst, managing director of AkademikerPension. “At AkademikerPension, we have a motto that says return and responsibility must go hand in hand, and we believe that this investment lives up to that.”

In 2020, The Taaleri SolarWind II fund, along with AIP, Ilmarinen and Akuo Energy, acquired 93 percent of the equity in the Escalade
