AirTrunk, a hyperscale data center specialist in Asia Pacific, has opened the doors of its 20-megawatt HKG1 data center in Hong Kong.
Built on a former eight-story industrial building, the facility will support cloud customers seeking to ramp up their operations in Hong Kong and the wider region. The data center will utilize the hyperscale-focused fiber optic network of HGC Global Communications, a fully-fledged fixed-line operator and ICT service provider. HGC’s fiber network will link the new data center to others in the city and beyond into Asia Pacific.
According to HGC, Hong Kong is one of Asia’s most connected locations. The Hong Kong data center market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 13 percent to 14 percent, reaching $1.7 billion by 2023.
