AIIM sells off two renewable farms in Africa

African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) has sold its shareholdings in two renewable energy sites in Africa to AIIM’s IDEAS managed fund, one of the largest equity investors in South African renewables.

The divestments consist of a 14 percent stake in Cookhouse, a 139-megawatt wind farm, and a 34 percent stake in REISA, a 75-megawatt solar PV facility, based in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and Northern Cape, respectively.

IDEAS is a co-shareholder in both Cookhouse and REISA and has been a significant investor in both projects since they reached financial close in 2012, according to Vuyo Ntoi, investment director and IDEAS portfolio manager.

Cookhouse and REISA were the largest wind and solar PV projects completed in the first bidding round of South Africa’s Renewable Energy IPP Procurement (REIPPP) program in 2012.
