AIIM appoints two managing directors to succeed CEO

by Kali Persall

African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) has promoted two joint–managing directors to take over for CEO Jurie Swart, who recently announced plans to retire early to focus on challenges outside the business.

Vuyo Ntoi and Sola Lawson will continue to sit in their South Africa and Nigeria offices, respectively, two of AIIM’s key markets in sub-Saharan Africa.

Serving as a member of the senior management team at AIIM for more than a decade, Ntoi is the co–portfolio manager of AIIM’s IDEAS Managed Fund, one of South Africa’s largest domestic infrastructure equity funds. He was also involved in the initial roll out of the business across the continent and has led and participated in high-profile and pioneering projects in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and Mali, according to AIIM.

In addition, Lawson joined AIIM in 2011 and founded the Nigeria office. He has played a leading role in originating, executing and managing $500 million of fund investments
