The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality have signed a loan agreement of €50 million ($60 million) to İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Izmir Metropolitan Municipality) to extend and increase the capacity, connectivity and efficiency of a metro line in the city of Izmir, Turkey.
The Izmir Metro Expansion Phase 4: Fahrettin Altay–Narlıdere Kaymakamlık Line Project involves the construction of a new 7.2-kilometer (4.5-mile) extension with seven stations. It will connect the western districts with the city center to meet increasing demand for high-capacity public transport.
