AEW has been mandated by SBI Shinsei Bank, a Japanese financial institution, to launch the SS Capital Digital Debt Fund.

The SS Capital Digital Debt Fund, which helps to support SBI Shinsei Bank’s expansion into the European digital infrastructure market, will primarily invest in telecommunications infrastructure projects in Europe focusing on high-speed fiber networks, telecommunication towers and data centers.

A fundraising target was not disclosed.

“The launch of the SS Capital Digital Debt Fund will bring new investment into Europe to support the development of digital infrastructure across the region,” said Jonathan Stevens, head of private debt at AEW Europe. “I look forward to working with SBI Shinsei Bank and to providing this leading Japanese financial player with our international and comprehensive expertise in the private debt field.”

Stevens added: “Our latest fund launch also signals AEW’s ambition to grow this business globally
