Adani Green Energy becomes world’s largest wind-solar hybrid power developer

by Kali Persall

Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL), the renewables arm of the Adani Group, has commissioned its third wind-solar hybrid power plant, representing a combined operational generation capacity of 450 megawatts, in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, in India.

The new hybrid power plant consists of 420 megawatts of solar and 105 megawatts of wind plants and has power-purchase agreements in place with the Solar Energy Corporation of India for a period of 25 years.

In May, AGEL had operationalized India’s first hybrid power plant of 390 megawatts, followed by the commissioning of the world’s largest colocated hybrid power plant of 600 megawatts in September. Both of these hybrid energy generation assets are located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

With the successful commissioning of the latest 450-megawatt hybrid plant, AGEL now has the largest operational hybrid power–generation capacity of 1,440 megawatts, and a total operational generation capacity of around 7.17 gigawatts.
