Actis has launched a new Brazilian transmission platform and acquired 100 percent of a 743-kilometer (462-mile) operational transmission line from EDP Brasil (Energias do Brasil). Financial terms were not disclosed.
The transmission line represents the first asset acquired by Actis to create a new transmission platform in Brazil, as part of its approach to investing in long-life infrastructure, with further capital allocations into the sector planned for the coming years.
Through the acquisition, Actis will deploy capital in the lowest-risk segment of Brazil’s power value chain while helping to support the country’s transition to renewable energy and a decarbonized power system. The deal comes as Brazil revises climate targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 53 percent from 2005 levels by 2030.
