Harbert Power takes ownership of one of Arizona’s largest battery energy storage projects

by Kali Arevalo

Harbert Power, Harbert Management Corp.’s energy infrastructure strategy, has acquired Papago Storage, a 300-megawatt battery energy storage project in Maricopa County, Ariz.

Papago Storage, one of the largest battery energy storage projects in Arizona, expands Harbert Power’s battery storage presence in the state. Earlier in 2026, the team commenced commercial operation at Justice Battery Energy Storage, a 150-megawatt project in the same county.

“Papago builds on our growing presence in Arizona and reflects our focus on being a reliable, execution-oriented partner to utilities in the state,” said Claude Estes, head of Harbert Power. “Our goal is to bring capital, experience and disciplined execution to projects that help our utility partners meet their reliability, capacity and evolving system needs. Papago is a strong example of that approach.”
