MEAG investors finance fiber-optic expansion in Germany

MEAG, the global asset manager for the Munich Re Group, has closed long-term financing for Meridiam Glasfaser B, a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) platform that is being developed in partnership with Vodafone in Germany.

Meridiam owns the passive fiber-optic infrastructure of Meridiam Glasfaser B, while Vodafone acts as the anchor tenant and commercial partner under a long-term wholesale agreement. The funding closed by MEAG supports the construction and operation of FTTH networks in eight rural areas, suburbs or small towns in Germany. After it is completed, the project is expected to reach approximately 80,600 households and provide previously underserved communities with gigabit-capable digital infrastructure.
