MN8 Energy to combine with Greenbacker, creating one of the largest U.S. clean power platforms

MN8 Energy, a scaled power platform developing, owning and operating energy assets for enterprise customers, recently announced it is acquiring Greenbacker Renewable Energy Co., an independent power producer, in a cash-and-equity transaction valued at up to approximately $375 million.

The surge in enterprise power demand, primarily driven by artificial intelligence and the rapid expansion of data centers, is accelerating the need for additional generation capacity and infrastructure investment across the United States. MN8 has more than 4.3 gigawatts of renewable capacity operating and under construction across 29 states, and Greenbacker owns a 1.9-gigawatt fleet of renewable-energy assets operating and under construction across 22 states.

The strategic combination creates a national renewable-energy platform with a cumulative generating capacity of more than 6 gigawatts across 33 states. Upon closing, the combined company will rank among the three largest clean power
