Macquarie Asset Management and GIC have forged a strategic partnership with Anthropic, the artificial intelligence research and development company behind Claude, a large language model. The partners plan to establish Theseus Infrastructure, a new platform that will develop, operate and lease data center infrastructure to Anthropic under long-term agreements.
As demand for Claude continues to grow rapidly across businesses, developers and consumers, meeting that demand requires significant new compute.
The parties will work together to identify and develop new sites for which Anthropic will be the anchor tenant, with an initial focus on the United States. Each facility will be purpose-built to support Anthropic’s growing capacity needs.
GIC and funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management will own Theseus Infrastructure and fund the majority of the equity for each project. Anthropic will cover electricity price increases that consumers otherwise may face from t
