Macquarie Capital recently confirmed it is investing Chiron Energy, an Italian renewable-energy developer, to establish a joint venture, Chiron Energy Power Generation. The joint venture will support the development, construction and operation of renewable power generation plants and energy storage systems across Italy.
The platform aims to develop innovative, sustainable energy infrastructure that accelerates Italy’s decarbonization efforts, aligning with Macquarie’s view of Italy as a leading European market for energy transition investment, the firm stated in a LinkedIn post.
It will target at least 1 gigawatt of solar capacity and 500 megawatts of battery storage projects in Italy, Reuters reports. Chiron Energy will own 51 percent of the venture, and 49 percent will be owned by Macquarie.
The platform is expected to generate around 1.4 terawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually once fully operational.
