BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners nears deal with AES

BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is close to a $38 billion deal to buy U.S. utility group AES, which would be one of the biggest infrastructure takeovers ever, reported Financial Times.

GIP, which already owns assets like London’s Gatwick Airport and major pipeline networks, is in advanced talks, though the deal could still fall through. Neither GIP nor AES have commented.
