HIF USA, a subsidiary of HIF Global, the world's leading eFuels company, has partnered with Bechtel Energy, Siemens Energy and Topsoe to conduct the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of a carbon-neutral gasoline facility to be constructed in Matagorda County, Texas.
Once operational, the HIF Matagorda eFuels Facility will produce carbon-neutral gasoline that can be dropped into vehicles currently in use without any modifications to existing engines or infrastructure. The carbon-neutral gasoline will be produced by utilizing roughly 2 million tons of carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere and green hydrogen from renewable power.
The goal is to produce around 200 million gallons (750 million liters) per year of carbon-neutral gasoline for the project by 2027, with the potential to decarbonize more than 400,000 vehicles.
