President Biden says he will press Congress on infra plan, as natural disasters ravage the U.S.

As fires surge throughout the western United States and floods submerge the East, President Biden has promised to put pressure on Congress to spur action on his historic plan that slates billions for necessary improvements to the nation’s infrastructure.

“When Congress returns this month, I’m going to press further action on my Build Back Better plan that’s going to make historic investments in electrical infrastructure, modernizing our roads, bridges, our water systems, sewer and drainage systems, electric grids and transmission lines, and make them more resilient to these super storms, wildfires and floods that are going to happen with increasing frequency and ferocity,” said Biden.

As of this writing, Hurricane Ida has killed at least 24 people in the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, leaving more than 150,000 homes without power. On the opposite side of the country, there are at least six active fires of interest burning in California alone
