Australian telecommunication carrier 5G Networks has paid A$1.1 million ($803,603) for a 3-megawatt data center in Brisbane, according to several news reports.
5GN bought the facility and all of its operating infrastructure from Pipe Networks using funds from existing cash reserves, CRN Australia reports. The new acquisition will give 5GN access to 250 racks, increasing its total capacity to more than 1,000 racks across Australia.
Once the new rollout is complete, the acquisition will allow customers to connect directly to the data center through its dark fiber network. The facility is expected to be operational in January.
