Solar Frontier Americas rebrands to Idemitsu Renewables

Solar Frontier Americas (SFA), the United States–based solar energy and storage developer business of Idemitsu Kosan, has rebranded to Idemitsu Renewables.

The move comes a year after Idemitsu Kosan Co., one of the largest energy companies in Japan, merged with Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. in 2019.

Idemitsu Renewables develops, finances, owns and operates utility-scale solar and storage projects. The company first developed and built projects in California and has expanded in the western states and Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland (PJM) energy markets.

The renewable arm currently manages a multi-gigawatt portfolio in various stages of development.

Cary Vandenberg, managing director of Idemitsu Renewables, explained that the new name underscores Idemitsu Kosan’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy business.
