Following 12 months of construction, Iberdrola’s Cavar wind power complex, located in the Spanish region of Navarre, has come online.
Iberdrola made the announcement on June 5, noting Cavar is the first major wind farm commissioned in Spain since the health crisis. With an installed capacity of 111 megawatts, it is also the company's largest wind farm built in Spain since 2012.
Developed by Renovables de la Ribera, a 50-50 joint venture between Iberdrola and Caja Rural de Navarra, the Cavar complex comprises four wind farms located in two municipalities in Navarre: Cadreita and Valtierra.
This new facility will generate enough energy to power 45,000 households per year, and prevent 84,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
