Ohio Power Siting Board has approved two solar-powered electric plants in western Ohio, totaling 275 megawatts.

Once completed, the farms will be the largest solar farms in the state.

Hillcrest Solar I, owned by Honolulu-based Blue Planet Renewable Energy, will construct a 125-megawatt solar farm on 1,100 acres in Green Township, in Brown County.

And Hardin Solar Energy, a subsidiary of Invenergy Solar Development North America LLC, got approval to build a 150-megawatt energy plant on 1,115 acres of land in Hardin County.
