The $139.7 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas has committed $250 million to Energy Capital Partners from the pension fund’s $5.3 billion energy/natural resources/infrastructure portfolio, according to a report sent by Juliana Fernández Helton, communications specialist for the pension fund.
The co-investment fund, Volt Parent, is in conjunction with domestic diversified energy fund Energy Capital Partners III. Texas TRS previously committed $150 million to the fund.
Energy Capital Partners III held a $5.043 billion final close in 2014, exceeding its $3.5 billion target. Fund III was launched in July 2013 and raised more than $5 billion in eight months, attracting a diverse base of more than 300 limited partner investors from North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The fund series invests in U.S. companies or creates startup firms in the energy sector.
