Synopsis: The lack of infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa opens the door to crucial and potentially transformative opportunities like no other region. Brookings estimates the sub-Saharan Africa needs approximately $93 billion annually to meet its infrastructure investment gap. The energy sector has seen the fastest growth in external financing sources of any sector and it now is the recipient of 45 percent of total external financing.
