Vance Street Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, has agreed to sell Terra Insights, a global end-to-end sensor and data delivery technology platforms, to Orica, a mining and infrastructure provider.
Terra Insights’ monitoring technology can measure areas of interest at scale, from high-production mine sites to entire networks, such as railways, highways and pipelines, with a combination of geospatial, ground-based and structural-based instrumentation. The platform is also used to measure movement in airports, bridges, water dams, tailings dams, mines and tunnels, according to Terra Insights’ website.
International law firm O’Melveny advised Vance Street Capital on the C$505 million ($380 million) sale. O’Melveny’s involvement started when Vance Street originally invested in Terra Insights in 2017, and the law firm subsequently guided Terra Insights through multiple complementary acquisitions.
The transaction is expected to close in first half
