Surge Energy brings new electrical substation online

Surge Energy U.S. Holdings Co., a Houston-based independent oil and natural gas company focused on the development, exploitation, production and acquisition of oil and natural gas reserves in the Midland Basin of West Texas, has commissioned its second electrical substation.

The Phoenix electrical substation was connected to the company's power line infrastructure in December 2022, which now includes more than 150 miles of power lines.

The company's first electrical substation, the Dragon substation, was commissioned in January 2020. This reduced the need for more than 40 well-site generators, which significantly reduced both costs and greenhouse-gas emissions. The Phoenix substation will support acreage that was acquired in 2021 and will have similar environmental and cost-reduction benefits as the Dragon substation.
