Shell’s Spanish business has taken ownership of Cable Energía, a Seville-based developer and operator of electric vehicle-charging points, according to various news sources.
Cable Energía is a sustainable infrastructure company focused on electromobility and renewable energy. The company aspires to become one of the largest aggregators of flexible-energy demand on the Iberian Peninsula, according to its website.
Cable aims to create a network of strategic locations, distributed throughout Spain and Portugal. The acquisition will allow Cable Energía to accelerate the rollout of this network and allow Shell to offer EV-charging services in those areas.
Cable Energia now has 80 charge points installed across Spain and Portugal, while Shell has a network of about 20,000 public charge points globally, Petrol Plaza reports.
