Sewage treatment contracts awarded in Saudi Arabia

The National Water Company (NWC) in Saudi Arabia has awarded $425 million worth of contracts for two sewage treatment plants in the country, according to InfraPPP.

The sewage treatment plants are located at Makkah city and Jeddah.

The first contract, worth $319.55 million, was awarded to a consortium consisting of Veolia Middle East, Civil Works Company and Awael Modern Contracting. The contract involves the rehabilitation, operation and maintenance of four sewage treatment plants at Jeddah, representing a total of 790,000 cubic meters per day of wastewater. The consortium will also invest more than $47.93 million in the rehabilitation of the plants.

The second contract, valued at $104.38 million, was awarded to a consortium consisting of Miahona Group and Thabat Construction. The consortium will be responsible for the rehabilitation and O&M works of sewer treatment plants located in Hada and Arana, representing a total treatment capacity of 500,000
