Schroders launches semi-liquid Article 9 energy transition fund

by Kali Persall

Schroders Greencoat has launched a new Article 9 investment vehicle, the Schroders Capital Semi-Liquid Energy Transition fund, representing Schroders Capital’s first infrastructure fund. A fundraising target was not disclosed.

According to various news sources, the fund will invest in energy generation, primarily through wind farms and solar parks. The fund also will consider companies involved in clean hydrogen, battery storage, district heating, power grids, carbon capture and other energy sectors. It will be primarily focused on the United States and Europe.

Schroders said the semi-liquid structure of the fund allows it to invest in long-term illiquid infrastructure projects.

“The energy transition represents one of the largest and most relevant investment themes impacting clients’ portfolios, and, as a result, it’s an exciting and attractive time to be accessing these types of investments,” said Duncan Hale, portfolio manager at Schroders Greencoat
