Santander launches renewable-energy investment platform

Spanish banking company Santander has created a new platform to invest in renewable-energy projects under development and construction.

The Santander Green Investment platform’s investment framework can grant green projects the bank signs off on, and partner with developers with proven experience in renewable-energy ventures. The platform has already invested in nine solar and wind projects in Spain with a combined capacity of 500 megawatts.

Santander, the highest-ranked bank in renewable-energy project finance, mobilized €65.7 billion ($72.3 billion) between 2019 and 2021, At the end of 2021, the bank had also issued three green bonds worth €3 billion ($3.3 billion).
