Sacramento County Employees commits $90m to two sustainable infrastructure

The $12 billion Sacramento County (Calif.) Employees’ Retirement System (SCERS) is committing $40 million to Ara Partners Fund III.

With Fund III, Ara Partners is looking to raise $2 billion, and plans to invest that capital in industrial decarbonization projects, including those related to green fuels, food, agriculture waste, manufacturing, chemicals, and energy efficiency.

Founded in 2017, with a specific mission to make investments that contribute to decarbonization globally, Ara Partners is now on the third vintage of its Partners Fund series, following the successes of the previous two vintages. Fund II raised $1.1 billion, and Fund I raised $400 million.

Along with the $40 million commitment to Ara Partners, SCERS has committed $50 million to Meridiam Infrastructure North America Fund IV.
