ReNew Power brings 300MW wind plant online in India

by Kali Persall

India’s ReNew Power has commissioned a 300-megawatt wind power generation facility in the state of Gujarat. The project will provide clean power to the states of Haryana and Odisha (formerly known as Orissa) at a lower rate than that of power generated through conventional thermal power plants in the region.

ReNew Power now has a commissioned wind generation capacity of 950 megawatts.

“The team worked hard to put together one of the largest wind farms in the state, with 120 turbines, and laid 73 kilometers of extra high-voltage transmission lines and over 330 kilometers of medium voltage transmission lines despite major disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sumant Sinha, founder, chairman and CEO of ReNew Power. “This is an important achievement for ReNew, and for India as the country continues down the path of decarbonization.”

ReNew said it has also entered into a definitive agreement for a business combination with RMG Acquisition Corp. II
