Queensland Government announces slew of new infra projects in 2021–22 Budget

The Queensland Government has unveiled its 2021–2022 Budget, which promises to deliver a number of infrastructure investments.

The budget includes A$14.7 billion ($11.3 billion) for infrastructure in 2021–2022, with 61.2 percent provided for projects outside of Greater Brisbane.

In addition, A$2 billion ($1.5 billion) will be used to establish the new Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund, expanding the previous A$500 million ($384 million) Renewable Energy Fund.

The fund will enable investments by Queensland’s government owned energy businesses in commercial renewable energy and hydrogen projects, as well as supporting infrastructure, and assist Queensland to achieve the 50 percent renewable energy target by 2030.

The Queensland Government will also continue to work with the Australian Government on Bruce Highway upgrades to improve safety, flood resilience and capacity along its length.
