Jacksonville, Fla.–based Patriot Rail Co., a U.S. operator of short line and regional freight railroads, rail services and integrated port logistics companies, has acquired short-line operator Salt Lake Garfield & Western Railway (SLGW). The transaction also includes SLGW’s related entities Caballero and Caballero 2 storage and transload service providers.
SLGW, located in the heart of Salt Lake City’s industrial corridor, currently handles more than 6,000 loaded rail cars annually within its 26-mile line. The deal represents Patriot’s first bolt-on acquisition since First Sentier Investors (FSI) acquired Patriot in October 2019.
