The C$221.2 billion ($175.6 billion) Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board has reported a total-fund net return of 8.6 percent in 2020. Ontario Teachers earned C$18 billion ($14 billion) in investment income for the year.
“Our portfolio proved to be very resilient during a turbulent year,” said Jo Taylor, president and CEO of Ontario Teachers. “Through the headwinds of a global pandemic and volatile investment landscape, we delivered strong financial results and high service levels for our members.”
As at Dec. 31, 2020, Ontario Teachers has had an annualized total-fund net return of 9.6 percent since inception. Net assets reached C$221.2 billion ($175.6 billion) in December, a C$13.8 billion ($10.9 billion) increase from the previous year. In addition, the five- and 10-year net returns were 7 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively.
