Octopus Energy backs tech disruptor Ocergy to turbocharge floating wind production

Octopus Energy's generation arm is backing tech disruptor Ocergy to help turbocharge floating offshore wind farms globally, making them cheaper and quicker to build. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ocergy, headquartered in the United States with operations in France, has an innovative approach to designing and manufacturing floating offshore wind turbine foundations, pioneering a hyper-local supply chain model and unlocking efficiencies through their modular designs assembled at their final destination.

Floating foundations are used in areas with coastlines that are too deep for foundations that are fixed to the seabed. Around 80 percent of global offshore wind resources are located in deep waters, according to Octopus.
