Norway and France join forces to develop carbon-capture and storage solutions

by Kali Persall

Norway and France have partnered to promote cooperation on the development and deployment of carbon-capture and storage (CC&S), according to Reuters.

Norway, a major oil and gas producer, plans to use CC&S to store emissions from European industry and has designated geological formations beneath its seabed as reservoirs for carbon dioxide. The partnership aims to help prevent global warming

“As part of the cooperation, the two governments will consider and prepare a bilateral agreement to enable cross-border transportation and storage of CO2,” said the Norwegian energy ministry. “Norway will facilitate the development of CO2 storage on our continental shelf for industrial companies, French companies included.”
