New York’s largest fossil-fuel power plant to be transformed into renewable-energy hub

Rise Light & Power, a New York–based energy asset manager and developer has plans to redevelop its Ravenswood Generating Station — New York City’s largest power generator — as a new renewable energy hub, dubbed Renewable Ravenswood.

The 27-acre waterfront industrial site will be repositioned to serve as a central hub that can integrate clean-energy sources, such as offshore wind and upstate wind and solar, directly into New York City’s electric grid, replacing fossil-fuel power with homegrown, locally sourced clean energy.

Renewable Ravenswood also advances New York’s efforts to ditch fossil fuel facilities by 2030, particularly those located near historically disadvantaged communities.
