Great Britain’s electricity system operator, National Grid ESO, has recommended £58 billion ($74 billion/€68 billion) of direct investment in electricity networks, spanning both onshore and offshore upgrades, to make the grid fit for the future.
The ESO released its Beyond 2030 report, which plans an additional 21 gigawatts of offshore wind and other low-carbon generation across Britain. The proposals will help the U.K. government to meet the Sixth Carbon Budget.
