MPC Energy Solutions (MPCES) has invested in a 2.6-megawatt combined-heat-and-power plant (CHP) development project in Puerto Rico — the company’s second project there.
The new plant will generate electricity using LNG, improving operational efficiencies, and reducing both emissions and power costs. Under the long-term energy supply agreement, the project will produce power and chilled water. The total investment costs are approximately $6 million. AMO Manufacturing, a local subsidiary and production facility of Johnson & Johnson Vision, is the private offtaker in the project.
The plant is being built by turnkey contractor Teksol and will commence operations in fourth quarter 2023.
“The new project is another important step in terms of executing on our project pipeline and demonstrates MPC Energy Solutions’ continued commitment to Puerto Rico,” said Martin Vogt, CEO at MPC Energy Solutions.
