MIRA raises €1.6b to invest in wind and solar projects

Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) has collected more than €1.6 billion ($1.9 billion) at the final closing of its Macquarie Green Investment Group Renewable Energy Fund 2 (MGREF2), a 25-year closed-end fund that will invest in a diversified portfolio of renewable assets.

The fund exceeded its initial minimum fundraising target of €1 billion ($1.2 billion) with commitments from 32 investors, including pension funds, local government pension schemes, insurers and sovereign wealth funds. The majority of investment capital came from Europe, with additional commitments coming from Asia Pacific and North America.
