Meridiam and Raxio to bolster data center presence in Africa

Paris fund manager Meridiam is planning to invest $48 million in African data center company Raxio to expand data center operations in Africa, according to Data Center Dynamics.

“We are excited to contribute to developing Africa’s digital infrastructure, by helping to roll-out energy-efficient data centers that will drive the digital transformation of the continent and be a catalyst for highly skilled jobs creation, whilst respecting the local environment,” said Mathieu Peller, COO Africa for Meridiam.

Meridiam has already invested more than $4.7 billion into African infrastructure.

Robert Mullins, Raxio CEO, said the investment comes at an ideal time, as the company has invested in its third facility located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, following the launch of the firm’s first flagship facility in Uganda in June 2020. Raxio has also started construction of its
