Macquarie Asset Management is selling a 10 percent stake in the 714-megawatt East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm to NTR, a renewable-energy specialist, on behalf of the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) fund and one of the fund’s investors, The Development Bank of Japan. Financial terms were not disclosed.
East Anglia ONE is a joint venture between ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidiary of Iberdrola Group, and Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG). Located in British waters 43 kilometers (27 miles) off the Suffolk coast, the £2.5 billion ($3 billion) project is the largest wind farm in Iberdrola's history.
According to ScottishPower Renewables, East Anglia ONE covers an area of 300 square kilometers (115.8 square miles), the equivalent of 40,000 football fields. It is capable of generating enough electricity to power the equivalent of 630,000 homes annually.
