Macquarie closes third Asia-Pacific regional infrastructure fund above $3b target

by Kali Persall

Macquarie Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund 3, the third Asia-Pacific regional infrastructure fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management, has closed with more than $4.2 billion in investor commitments, exceeding its $3 billion fundraising target.

Commitments came from a diverse range of returning and new institutional investors from around the world, including pension funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds.

Launched in 2020, Fund 3 has already successfully committed more than $2.4 billion (with an additional $3 billion in co-investments) across seven locally sourced investments, including Bohao Internet Data Services and Metcold Supply Networks in China, Summit Energy Alliance Limited in South Korea, Bersama Digital Infrastructure in Indonesia, Vocus Group and Bingo Industries in Australia, and 2degrees in New Zealand.

The fundraise brings the capital managed under Macquarie’s Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund series to more than $15 billion.
