Macquarie Asset Management snaps up 50% stake in Greece’s Enel Green Power Hellas

by Kali Persall

Macquarie Asset Management has paid €250 million ($275 million) to Enel Group for a 50 percent stake in Enel Green Power Hellas, a Greek renewable-energy developer and operator.

Enel Green Power Hellas has a 566-megawatt portfolio of onshore wind, solar and hydropower projects in operation or under construction across Greece’s mainland and islands. The portfolio consists of 59 operational projects totaling 482 megawatts of installed capacity powered by wind, solar and hydropower, and six solar projects under construction with an overall capacity of 84 megawatts. Its operational portfolio is the third-largest in Greece.

Enel Green Power Hellas also has identified a pipeline of new development projects across wind and solar and is expanding into innovative storage and hybrid solutions. This infrastructure will be critical to Greece’s ongoing energy transition as it seeks to decarbonize its energy-generation capacity and enhance security of supply.
