Low Carbon has seen a flurry of activity as of late. On March 13, the global renewable-energy company announced that its 30-megawatt Mörknässkogen onshore wind project in Finland has entered commercial operations.
Mörknässkogen is Low Carbon’s first wind project to come online in Finland, and represents part of the company’s goal to deploy renewable-energy infrastructure at scale. Located on the west coast of Finland near the city of Vaasa, the project forms part of Low Carbon’s Finnish pipeline of more than 120 megawatts of onshore wind, benefitting from the region’s abundant wind resource and resultant attractive levelized cost of energy.
The power generated from Mörknässkogen will be sold via a 10-year virtual power-purchase agreement to Ecolab, a global leader in water, hygiene and infection-prevention solutions and services. Through the agreement, Ecolab will have sourced enough clean electricity to cover 100 percent of its European operations.
