Lightsource BP acquires Italian solar portfolio from Horizon Firm

by Kali Persall

Lightsource BP, the largest solar developer in Europe, has expanded its solar portfolio in Italy with the acquisition of 156 megawatts from Italian consulting company HorizonFirm, according to several news sources.

The acquisition includes three solar projects — two in Sicily and one in Manfredonia. They include the 40.9-megawatt Canicattì project and the 58.2-megawatt Torre di Mastro project, as well as a planned 57.4-megawatt project. They are expected to attain ready-to-build status in 2022.

Lightsource BP also has signed an exclusivity agreement with Horizon Firm to acquire an additional 130 megawatts of solar projects, according to NS Energy.

The acquisitions bring Lightsource BP’s Italian solar development pipeline to more than 1.5 gigawatts.
