KKR becomes latest investor in MetroNet, alongside Oak Hill Capital

KKR has joined Oak Hill Capital as an investor in MetroNet, a fiber optic company headquartered in Indiana.

MetroNet is credited with creating the largest gigabit city in the United States by fully wiring the city of Lexington, Ken. The company expects its network to reach more than 1 million residential households and business locations in the near future.

KKR will invest in MetroNet through its global infrastructure strategy, through which KKR has become one of the most active infrastructure investors worldwide. The firm currently manages more than $27 billion in infrastructure assets.

Oak Hill and KKR will each make new investments to help accelerate MetroNet’s growth in building and connecting fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) data, television and telephone services to homes and businesses. Oak Hill is a long-time investor in the FTTP space and has been a partner with MetroNet since 2014.
