João Carneiro joins Patria Investments’ energy & infrastructure team

by Kali Persall

João Carneiro has left ING Group, where he served as head of energy and infrastructure for the past 10 years, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Carneiro took up a new position on the energy and infrastructure side at Patria Investments in November 2021, according to his LinkedIn page.

At ING, Carneiro was responsible for ING Brazil’s project finance lending and advisory department, focused exclusively on energy, infrastructure and TMT. He was also responsible for the relationship and corporate lending to companies in these sectors. He helped develop the department in Brazil, turning ING into one of the largest lenders among international banks in renewables, O&G, cell towers, data centers, port terminals and RBL transactions.

Previously, Carneiro was co-head of infrastructure finance for Latin America at Scotiabank and held the same role at Depfa Bank prior to that. Earlier in his career, Carneiro also worked in project finance at Itaú Unibanco.
